Committee on Academic Services
The Committee on Academic Services is responsible for overseeing and reporting to the Senate on the various activities in the University that directly serve and support the academic program. Among the most important of these are the University library resources, enrollment management, and computer and technology support. Distance learning initiatives will also be within the jurisdiction of this committee (approved by the Academic Senate 4/15/10).

Committee on Academic Policy
The Committee on Academic Policy examines a variety of issues pertaining to the policies governing the academic program of the University, and its work encompasses such topics as academic freedom, student dishonesty, failing grades, guest speakers, definition of good academic standing, and transfer of credits.

Committee on the Faculty Handbook
The Committee on the Faculty Handbook continually evaluates the provisions of the Faculty Handbook and the manner by which these provisions are being implemented. If on the basis of this evaluation the committee determines that revisions are needed, the committee will prepare and recommend revisions of the Handbook for approval by the Senate, the president and the Board of Trustees (approved by the Academic Senate 4/15/10).

Committee on Evaluation
The Committee on Evaluation develops and implements methods for continuing evaluation of the work of the Academic Senate by its members and by the University community (approved by the Academic Senate 4/15/10).

Unit Standards Committee
The Unit Standards Committee comprises 13 members. The members will be elected by individual schools for 3-year terms. Each of the eleven schools with full-time faculty will have one representative on the Unit Standards Committee except for the School of Arts and Sciences, which shall have three members. The members from Arts and Sciences will be selected as follows: one each from humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences. The committee will elect a Chair from among its members.
 
The committee initially is tasked with investigating the various policies, practices, and common understandings pertaining to faculty workload among the schools and disciplines. Further, the committee will seek to determine teaching equivalencies for other work outside the classroom relevant to particular disciplines, such as strong research contributions including but not limited to undergraduate research supervision, thesis/dissertation guidance, certain service contributions, and administrative responsibilities. Recommendations should be provided to the provost and the deans by the end of each fall semester by means of an annual report to the Academic Senate.
 
The current members were all elected in February 2023, and will serve through the end of 2025.
